Shearing is critical for the health of our alpacas.

There are two approaches to shearing. One approach is to "get it done" quickly and the second approach is to "take care" of other husbandry tasks the same day. There is not a right or wrong approach..it is simply a preference.

I prefer to "take care" of everything the alpaca needs while on the table. I shear using a tilt table. I believe proper use of the table is less stressful for the alpaca than shearing on the ground.

As an owner, I do not want the alpaca on the table for a long time, but I also want to get as much accomplished as possible. Shearing, nails, teeth and shots can happen without stress on the alpaca and their owner. At least that is the goal. And after 9 years, I still love to see the year's fiber all bagged and ready for spinning.

As a shearer, I share one of the best days of the year with owners.

Shearing services using a tilt table. I bring everything needed for the day to shear, bag fiber, trim toenails and teeth. All you need to add is the Alpaca.

Available 7 days a week beginning in April through the end of May.

Traveling to Alpaca farms in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan and Illinois.

Along with alpacas, I shear Llamas, but obviously not on a table.

Please call or e-mail soon to book your 2008 Shearing Day.
